Twin metal bed frames, whether they are made of iron, brass, copper or other metals, are subject to oxidation over time. This makes them the great flea market they find because many people do not want to take the time and effort necessary to restore them to their original beauty. Metal beds can be varnished, which means a little effort could turn someone else’s trash into your treasure the weekend.
Put on protective glasses and gloves. Apply a thick layer of a stripper in the form of paste to the metal base. Allow the separator to penetrate the end of the lacquer in the frame. Rub the metal structure with steel wool in a circular motion to completely remove the lacquer. Clean the frame of the bed with a damp cloth to remove chemicals.
Polish the bed frame with a metal polisher that is appropriate for the type of metal in the bed. Rub the enamel in a circular motion with a rag until the black tarnish begins to peel off. Continue polishing the metal bed until it is free of tarnish. Buff the metal frame of the bed until it is restored to its original finish. Move a soft, clean cloth quickly through the metal to bring out its shine.Tags: refinish bed frame, refinish iron bed
